Oh my gosh guys! Can you believe that even Estheticians wake up with a zit on the end of their nose from time to time?!
It’s true and this time it was my turn!
I know you are probably going to think I am being silly, but I wanted to show you how managing your skin and internal wellness on a daily basis can improve your fallout when blemishes strike.
So you probably saw on social media and in my newsletters recently that I have had a lot to celebrate. A new studio and the stress that goes with preparing, packing and moving. My cousins wedding at the beginning of September, and then my recent travels to Palm Springs, CA.
I have been a busy bee, but I have stayed committed to my self-care.
That being said I did indulge a little as well… and I paid for it.
I recently woke up to a few breakouts on my face and face-mapping tells my tale. I noticed these breakouts Monday morning and planned to show you from beginning to end, but my action plan worked so well I nipped it in the bud too quickly so there was really very little to show. But, I will share with you what I did.
Step # 1 Don’t Freak out! You got this!
First things first, you have to get your head in the game. If you are dealing with acne the number one thing that is a HUGE game changer is your mindset.
When I woke up and went to the bathroom mirror, I was like ok, what is my body telling me right now? I didn’t go to the place of oh, sh*$ it’s on the end of my nose! What the heck!. Our brain, skin, and gut cells all derive from the same ectoplasm when we are conceived. They are the best of friends and like BFFs, they talk to each other about everything.
Stressing just exacerbates the acne lesions. That being said if you want a minute to freak out that is totally ok, but set a timer and when it’s up, take action with step #1.
It’s true, you totally have this and with a licensed skin care partner (like me) to give you a tool box of solutions, this is no sweat!
Step #2 Check your face map.
I experienced three little blemishes on the tip of my nose, one in the hollow of my cheek (left side) and one on the left side of my forehead. The lower face ones were red and inflamed (though pretty tiny) and the forehead one was not inflamed.
This lines up with my lifestyle over the past few weeks. I have been in different time zones, bathed in different water sources and was without my vitamin C shower filter… and I have had a few pieces of cake (gluten free of course) and a few adult beverages.
The bump on my forehead shows a little bit of candida from the excess sugar I’d consumed. And, I was experiencing a lot of heartburn after my anniversary dinner. We ate Mediterranean food at Xo on Elm in Manchester complete with lots of pepperoncinis… and a martini. So good, but I definitely noticed my throat was a little irritated and the spot on my cheek lines up hormonally, this could be from extra chlorine in the shower as well as pesticides on the plane and swimming in the pool at the conference. (it was so nice to get an extra few more pool days this year!)
***Back to mindset for a sec****
When I was doing all of these things that can alter my appearance (both skin and body image) not once did I think negatively about those choices. I was connecting with friends and family and my attitude is that at each meal or cocktail party, I have a choice. If something doesn’t settle well, then next time I will make a different choice! Your ability to forgive your choices is cornerstone to having clear skin!
Step #3 Snap into action.
After looking at my skin I saw a little dehydration from the air travel in addition to the breakout. So I knew I needed to exfoliate a little to unblock the follicles, and then treat with vitamin A and trioxolane. Osmosis has a serum that I got for my husband called clarify. It is really great for spot treating blemishes. It has healing ingredients and vitamin A to swoop in and reduce excess oil and feed the skin with nutrition. I coupled that with clear activating mist as well as rescue (trioxolane to break down the extra protein and heal).
Massaging is a huge component as well – this brings up circulation and metabolic processes to get rid of the infection. Move in light upward circular motions towards the ear and down the neck.
Last step, I masked.
When in doubt mask it!
This gets the body into self-cleaning mode while also brightening the skin.
By the next morning I just had a tiny red dot on the end of my nose. I was super bummed that it was so fast I couldn’t show you, but so exciting to share this with you!
One other thing that is a huge important part of keeping my acne in check is harmonized water. I take Skin Perfection water morning and night with anti-testosterone frequencies and it helps to support estrogen detox as well as digestive health. When I take it, if by chance I do break out, it is tiny and manageable. I have noticed when I go without it I will get bigger nodules and cysts. So I can’t be without it!
I want to make skincare and stopping acne in its tracks easy for you too.
If you have any questions on your face-mapping (you can find more about this on a blog I did for Nicole Jardim, you can read it here.) and what it means for you or how to tackle it, I would love to see you (either virtually or in person) and help you get to the bottom of it.
